Yes, it wasn’t just the freezing temperatures in Washington DC that threatened to dampen the day, there were also some technical difficulties.
However, social media users were in awe by the “beautiful” moment that unfolded after Carrie Underwood’s backing track stopped playing seconds into her performance.
Today, is undoubtedly a historic day for the United States, as Donald Trump has taken his oath and been sworn in as President of the United States – for a second time.
The event took place inside the rotunda of the US Capitol as it was the coldest inauguration day since 1985.

Nevertheless, an incredibly warming moment took place when musician Carrie Underwood took to the mic following Trump’s address to sing ‘America The Beautiful’.
Despite the track failing to play properly, Underwood could be seen saying, “I’ll just sing it” with a smile on her face. And as those in the room rallied behind her and started to sing, the entire rotunda delivered a touching and patriotic rendition of the anthem.
The moment certainly resonated with viewers, as they took to social media to praise the Underwood for her professionalism and the scene as a whole.
“After a technical glitch with the music, Carrie Underwood boldly sang ‘America the Beautiful’, acapella & brought the house DOWN,” one person tweeted.
“If you were not moved by the grace of @carrieunderwood inviting the audience to sing with her when the music would not play that’s sad. If you didn’t weep when she belted out America the Beautiful, you hate America,” another added.
“Carrie Underwood rips it with an a capella rendition of America the Beautiful. Sometimes technical difficulties bring magical moments. She knocked it out of the park,” wrote a third.
A fourth wrote: “Cold chills, tears flowing…America the Beautiful couldn’t have been more perfect by Carrie Underwood in the Rotunda!”
