During the heated confrontation, Vance accused Volodymyr of being “disrespectful”. Donald Trump also told Volodymyr Zelenskyy that he’s, “gambling with millions of lives…gambling with World War Three.”

The meeting in the Oval Office ended with no deal. However, Zelenskyy later told BCC that he’s still “ready to sign” the minerals deal.

Trump’s cordial relationship with Vladimir Putin has been well-documented. The former often praises the Russian president, a stark contrast from other NATO leaders. After Friday’s meeting, several world leaders expressed support for Ukraine, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron and United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
