Cut Chalamet’s check!
Timothée Chalamet refused to follow through with a request from Julianne Hough on the Oscars 2025 red carpet. And, naturally, it got awkward.
The “Dancing with the Stars” co-host, 36, asked Chalamet, 29, if he would re-create his “Saturday Night Live” rapping skit that he’s done with Pete Davidson — but in Bob Dylan’s voice.
“I was hoping that maybe you could do the ‘skrt, skeet’ in like, Bob Dylan,” she said while reporting from the red carpet.
Chalamet, 29, deadpanned: “You know what? I’m gonna need a check.”
“OK, OK. Got it,” Hough laughed in response.
The cringeworthy moment went viral and the internet blamed Hough for poor journalism skills.
“lol sorry to this woman but what a dumb question,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“’Dance for me, monkey’ is a tactic that 9 times out of 10 will not go over the way the interviewer thinks it might,” someone else said.
A different person praised Chalamet for how he handled Hough’s question.
“Love that he said that. He’s given so much during the awards campaign and shows. Enough with asking him to perform on cue,” the fan tweeted.
Chalamet first showed off his rapping skills on “SNL” in 2020, when he and Davidson played famous SoundCloud rappers in the “Rap Roundtable” sketch.
Chalamet’s rapper character returned in the “Museum of Hip-Hop Panel” sketch when he hosted an episode in November 2023.
Before her Oscars interview with Chalamet, Hough spoke to USA Today on the red carpet and made a joke about the actor.
“I haven’t met Timothée Chalamet. I hope he’s shirtless,” she said with a laugh.
Hough and “The Bachelor” host Jesse Palmer hosted “The Oscars Red Carpet Show” for ABC and Hulu at LA’s Dolby Theatre Sunday night.
The professional dancer wore a flowing sheer gown from Christian Dior to the star-studded show.
Chalamet, meanwhile, went to the Oscars in a butter yellow Givenchy suit. He was nominated for Best Actor for his role in the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” but lost to Adrien Brody.
After Brody’s name was called, Chalamet clapped for his fellow nominee and then embraced his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, and his mom, Nicole Flender. Chalamet congratulated “The Brutalist” star, 51, later in the show.
Chalamet would’ve become the youngest best actor winner in Oscars history if he won for “A Complete Unknown.”
